New York Brass Choir History
The New York Brass Choir, a brass quintet specializing in liturgical, youth, and concert programs, was founded in 1967 by Dean Karahalis. The quintet originated as a college performing ensemble and later developed into a professional quintet.
The New York Brass Choir has previously performed for young audience concerts, American Society of University Composers, guest appearances with various orchestras, frequent radio broadcasts, sacred and secular performances in churches and temples, and school workshops.
The New York Brass Choir were featured artists for the New York Brass Conference for Scholarships. The members are artist-clinicians for the Conn-Selmer Musical Instrument Company and are artists-in-residence at Suffolk County Community College (Selden, Long Island) and Queensborough Community College (Bayside, New York).
The ensemble is available for special events: graduation ceremonies, weddings, corporate celebrations, and more. For more information, please contact contact Dean Karahalis.
